Cricket
What you'll need to bring to training and matches — and what the club can lend you while you're starting out.
Having the right equipment is important for both safety and performance. Below is a guide to the essential kit required to play cricket, along with notes on what the club provides.
Cricket bat — hardwood blade, choose weight appropriate to your height and strength
Helmet — mandatory for batting and wicket-keeping; must meet safety standards
Pads (batting) — to protect the lower legs and shins
Gloves (batting) — to protect the hands and fingers
Box/abdominal guard — essential protection for male players
Cricket shoes — spiked or rubber-soled depending on surface
Cricket whites or club kit — approved attire for league matches
Wicket-keeping gloves
Inner gloves
Wicket-keeping pads
Chest guard (recommended)
The club provides shared equipment for training sessions including balls, stumps and cones. Players are encouraged to invest in their own bat, helmet and pads for comfort and safety.
Cricket equipment can be ordered online from specialist cricket retailers. The club can also provide information on equipment pricing and recommended suppliers used by other local clubs.
